Santhanam Suresh, MD

Biographical Data

Dr. Suresh received his medical degree from the University of Madras in India. His residency in pediatrics was done at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and residency in Anesthesiology was done at Loyola University Medical School in Chicago. His fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology was done at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Suresh is Vice Chairman and Director of the Pain Management Service and Research in the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. His major area of research is in post-operative pain control and management of chronic pain in children and adolescents. He is nationally and internationally renowned for his innovations in the use of nerve blocks for postoperative pain control in infants and children. He is working on a national registry for regional anesthesia in children. He is also the Chair of the Pain Practices Committee at Children’s Memorial Hospital.
